ArcheAge Chronicles lore: the Age of Pioneers in Auroria

ArcheAge Chronicles opens in Early Access on Steam on 3 November 2026 at 15:00 Pacific time, which is 4 November in Europe (00:00 in Central Europe). Before launch, XLGAMES has shared only the outline of its story, so this page is short on purpose. We will add to it as the game comes out and the story is told in game.

Everything below comes from XLGAMES' own store page and announcements (sources at the bottom). We have left out what fan sites guess at but XLGAMES has not said itself.

  1. AuroriaA continent that became a forgotten legend.
  2. RediscoveryAuroria is found again.
  3. The Age of PioneersExplorers, ruins and a crashed airship.

Auroria, rediscovered

In XLGAMES' words: "It is the Age of Pioneers. Auroria, a legend long forgotten, has been rediscovered."

Auroria is the stage for the whole game. For a long time it was only a story people told. Now it has been found again, and the people who come to it are pioneers: explorers looking for what was left behind.

Ancient ruins and the airship crash

The story starts with exploration and a mystery. Players "explore ancient ruins, investigate a catastrophic airship crash, and become embroiled in the web of intrigue surrounding the mysterious and tragic event." Along the way you meet "many characters shrouded in mystery, each with their own secrets and goals."

Who was on the airship, why it fell, and who gains from it are the questions the story is built around. XLGAMES has not answered them before launch.

The first regions

The Early Access version has three regions of Auroria:

XLGAMES plans to open more of Auroria during Early Access.

What we do not know yet

XLGAMES has not yet described factions, peoples, gods or the wider history of the world in ArcheAge Chronicles, or said exactly how the story connects to the original ArcheAge. We will not fill those gaps with guesses. When the game is out and the story can be checked in game, this page will grow.
